MMTC is zooming up with superb rise in its share prices

The state-run commodity trading firm, MMTC becomes the country`s most valued public sector firm by toppling oil exploration major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) from this position.The market capitalisation of MMTC rose to Rs 2.71 trillion on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in mid-day trade on Monday. This is the second highest across all private and public sector firms after Reliance Industries with a market cap of Rs 3.97 trillion.The shares of MMTC surged 5% on BSE to touch its upper circuit limit of Rs 56,931.50. While shares of ONGC declined 5.43% and touched an intra-day low of Rs 1,168. With this, ONGC became the third most valued firm on the BSE with a market capitalisation of Rs 2.64 trillion.Another state-owned power major NTPC was ranked fourth in the list with capitalization of Rs 1.99 trillion.
Shares of MMTC closed up Rs 2,711, or 5% at Rs 56,931.50. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE was 763. (Monday)
