HDFC Interview postponed due to month end business...

Well, the big event of this week has been carried forward to the next week. Due to heavy workload at the month end, HDFC Bank has postponed the interviews to the next week

Today was a cool day. I missed out the first class as I got up too late in the morning. Though I made up things quick and even skipped my breakfast (which I am doing daily for some cost cutting as well as fat reduction), I reached 30 minutes late and as I did not wish to disturb the class by entering so late, I just stayed back in the library. Of course, wherever there is a connection to the internet, I just easily hang out there

Later, we had some activities like preparing charts for inward and outward clearing, listing out differences between local clearing and inter bank clearing. We were divided in groups. Naveen, Ruchi, Rekha, Ajeya, Vibha and I formed the first group. It went on well

We had a Finacle class after a long time where we covered topics relating to multiple debits, credits, etc
We were supposed to submit the MOAF forms (Module Objectives Attainment Feedback) today. These are available at the end of each book and contain information to ascertain whether the student has been able to understand what has been taught. It was told that these must be submitted today morning. In fact, I was the one to pass this information to everyone yesterday evening. And unfortunately, I was the only person who forgot to get them today. However, I had 2 books with me and I took the forms on spot and filled them up and handed over to the faculty. For the remaining books, I promised to give them on Monday

Soon, we had lunch and after lunch, I went along with Sameer, Bineet & Rekha to St. Mark's Road for some work. After that, I came back to IFBI as I have to collect a courier and submit documents for the educational loan at ICICI Bank today

The weekend has begun and lets see, what excitement awaits this weekend

HDFC Bank interview preparations...

It is expected that the interview process will either be tomorrow or the day after. So, today was dedicated for this purpose. 13 of us are eligible for the interview. We underwent a mock interview process. Everyone of us performed well. This helps in building up confidence and gives an experience and exposure that helps to perform well on the D-Day

The interview can swing in any direction. It might get totally academical or technical or family oriented or extracurricular oriented, etc. Ultimately, I believe, what the interviewer looks for is the confidence, willingness, motivation levels, abilities, attitude, etc which are learnt by him indirectly

After the interview, a class on mutual funds and insurance was conducted to give the knowledge about them so that we are confident of answering any questions that might come up in the process

I must really thank our faculty for having taken so much pain in preparing us for the interview. In fact, its not just today. We have been trained in this about a month back too. They have been giving a lot of inputs to us. And I really feel that its our duty to perform well so that these efforts yields fruits. I am sure, these processes that we have gone through will help us not just for this interview but also for the entire life. They deserve a big round of applause

Things get a little worse...

I dont understand what is going on but there is something wrong somewhere. Today, I was just taking out some small dust particle that was stuck to my fingernail and suddenly, the faculty got angry and fired on me. It was difficult when he said that I consider myself as some great professor. I don't understand what is going wrong. This is the only class that I am unable to go normally. All other classes, I am cool, interactive, interested and I am sure, no faculty has any complaint or qualification against me. But this class, I am not in a position to handle. I am a person who can't sit idle. If I speak up, I am treated as oversmart. If I sit quiet, my attention gets diverted elsewhere. There is a need for me to keep myself attentive and open to the class. For some time at least, I need to keep quiet and ensure that things go fine

The HDFC Bank interview process is soon to happen

RMP Infotec 7th Anniversary...

I had been to the 7th anniversay celebrations of RMP Infotec and it was great. It was attended by a large number of people and it was a big celebration under the banner of IBG (Innovative Business Group) led by Mr Abhilash Thomas. There was dance, fun, music, fashion, business, achievement honours, etc

After the function, I was supposed to meet a friend for the purpose of some business. It was also related to network marketing. My mind had got so tired that I did not want to listen to anything. I was in Koramangala at that point of time. I was hungry and tired too. I took a coke and had some snacks as I could not afford to go to the restaurant die to time factor. I inquired about the buses to my place and I was told that I need to walk for about 2 kms. I went on. In fact, it was more than 3 kms. Finally, I got on to the bus and reached Jayanagar 9th block by 10.30 pm. I waited long for buses to my place. None came. So, I had to walk all the way for about 6 kms to reach my room. It was about 11.30 pm that I reached my room. And there was another drama waiting for me. All my belongings were taken off from my cupboard and kept on my bed. I was taken aback. On asking my roommates, they just started blaming one another and finally, when I got angry and blasted on them, they ran away from there. I called the owner immediately and he, a irrepsonsible man just living for the sake of money, told me to go to any room that I wish and stay there. It was so disgusting. Optionless, I moved on to the neighbouring room where people are much better and nice

People have come from Kerala to pursue a course from Jetking. They say that it is a 3 month course and they will have the class for just 2 hours a day. And the remaining 22 hours, they are free. I really dont understand how can they afford to take such decisions. And much sadder than all this is that the people come here in the name of studies and all that they do is drink, smoke and speak on the phone. Its really a sorry situation

The other day, I was returning home from Majestic in a bus. An old man, drunk, was on the bus too. He was not in his senses. The conductor asked him for the ticket and he did not respond properly. The conductor, very tired by work, started putting out all his frustration on him. The bus was stopped and he was asked to get down. And suddenly a fight begun and the conductor started hitting this old man and even some people joined to hit him. I got up from my seat suddenly. Though my friend stopped me, I went on and interfered. I managed to handle the situation and kept people away from fighting. After all, what great thing did they want to achieve by hitting an old man who is not in his senses. Everyone started to blame and told that I was supporting such worst people and because of people like me, such idiots get encouragement to do all such activities. I did not speak much. I just ensured to ask the person where he wanted to go and unfortunately, he had taken a wrong bus. I asked him to get down. And we moved ahead

One thing that always hurts me is that the children are not able to take care of their parents properly. I feel very bad to see old men begging on the roads, lying hungry on streets or getting drunk to forget their pains. Its really sad to note such incidents. And above all, the common men go to hit or scold such people. Whats the use of hitting a person who is already hit badly in life? Well, I know that what I am thinking is a little too much. But then, one has to keep in mind, human values and live a good life. Thats when a human life will be really successful
Sometimes, people take advantage of such an attitude of mine. For e.g., my roommates requested me some space in the cupboard. And I just made some space for them. And finally, they extended and extended so much that I had to vacate the room itself :-)

As they say
If you give him an inch, he will take a mile
Life keeps teaching every moment if your eyes are widely open

A new day after an exciting weekend...

After a wonderful weekend, we are back on the premises of IFBI for the journey. Today was a fine day. We continued with PCSS. One small moment of disturbance was when sir caught me singing song and fired. It was a little sad for me. Usually, I never do anything wrong. And whenever I take even the slightest deviating step, I am immediately caught. In a way, I should be thankful to the God that this is preventing me from doing anything wrong or uncommon

A review was given by Naveen Crasta today. It was good

The speciality of the day was the birthday celebration of Maruti Bhogulkar. We cut a cake and had good fun. Of course, the chocolate cake not just just went in the mouth but also cheeks, chin, nose, eyes, ears and where not

The birthday boy also sponsored the lunch for the day. Thanks for that and wish you a great life ahead. Happy Birthday!

Maruti, Raghavendra, Raju, Naveen Koganti and I had been to the movie 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' on Saturday. We had been for the matinee show at Urvashi theatre near Lalbagh maingate. It was an OK type movie. The title song was the most exciting part of the movie. In fact, the story has no relation with the title or the title song. I believe, its only because of this song that the movie has been able to get some audience. And yes, it was the first time that I was going for a movie in Bengaluru. A little hard to believe but the fact. It costed Rs 80 for the dress circle. A good beginning. In my city, the balcony too doesn't cost me so much. We had great fun together. In the interval, I moved out to get something to eat. However, seeing the sandwich costing Rs 40 and coke costing Rs 30, my stomach was more than filled and I went back for the second half

After the movie, we planned to move on to ISKCON Temple as it was Krishna Janamashtami. It was already late. Yet, we decided to move on as this opportunity would not come again. We jumped from one bus to another and caught an auto later and finally reached the great temple. It had been a wish from a long time for me to go to this place. I was very happy. The crowd was too large. We went on. The temple has been planned in a very beautiful manner. After moving in the queue for about 30 minutes, we could see the God's idols. It was fantastic. I was delighted and lost in prayer. I have been going to ISKCON Hubli and so, I know how exciting it is to pray to Lord Krishna. And after a dream come true, I went ahead towards the prasadam area. Soon, we moved on and after offering a final prayer to the Lord, we came out of the temple

We had some pani puri and masala puri. In fact, we also had some samosas sweet in the temple. And then, we all caught buses that would take us back to our homes

It was a great day spent together that will stay in the mind and heart for a long to come

On Sunday, we had a plan of going for an anniversary celebration of the company which we had decided to get in for doing the business (RMP). In fact, it was a rare opportunity as it happens once in a year only. And luckily, we were here in Bengaluru and that too, just about to get into the business. So, it was like a diamond in a bucket of gold. Though I asked everyone to join, only Maruti made it. We had some nice dances, fashion shows, songs, laser light shows, celebrations and so on. It was conducted at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium and was attended by at least 10000 people

That was really a strong weekend, I must say

Weekend... The week comes to an end...

Its the seventh week of training that has come to an end at IFBI. Life has been good, nice, fine, cool, tough and everything. We have been seeing all the colors of life. One thing that is undeniable is that we have built a great relationship amongst us. Good friends have been added into everyone's life. There is a mix up of various types of people at all new places and soon, once we get to know them, we feel we all are the same

Today was a good day and the classes went as usual. The day began with a presentation from our group on Working with Various Types of Customers, Rapport Building with Customers and Rapport Building on the Telephone. I had not prepared anything for this. As I came to the class in morning, I noticed that there is a need to get ready for the same. It was about 7.35 am and I immediately prepared slides to cover all the topics. And then, I gave an extempore presentation on the same. It was easy as I could refer to the slides. Only after the presentation, I got to know that we had skipped a topic titled 'Understanding Customer Types'. However, it was explained by Laxminarayana sir. In fact, I wanted to present it as a team. But then, as we had no prior planning in relation to this, it was not possible. I wanted someone else to do it. But, seeing that no one was ready, I did that. And sadly, after I completed about 70% of the show, Ruchi came in (she was a little late to the class) and after I completed 100%, she said that she was prepared for this. And then, even Raju and Vibha had a similar reaction. I felt like I snatched a chance from them and it was a little difficult to digest. Though I wanted others to do it, it finally ended in my hands. It was just a small presentation. But then, there is always a high value attached to small things in the short term. In the long run, nobody remembers them and they are definitely insignificant. I remember having done so many skits, plays in college; debates, declamations in school, college; but then, at that time, life would be so dependent on it. Today, we don't even remember them. Life is full of opportunities. Whoever takes them is wise. I thought so and went ahead

Coming to the other bang of the day. It is the reviewing given by Naveen Koganti on yesterday's learning. Only one word that can be said in relation to this is 'Perfect'. He had prepared beautiful slides and had prepared himself well for the show. He did it in a very beautiful manner and sir termed it as a 'Zero-Defect Show'. All these words were told by the faculty. I found it just a little above average

After the class, we had some roleplays in the class where I was acting as a shrewd lazy uninterested manager and others came in as customers with various questions. E.g. Raghu came with a cheque that was not cleared and he never got a response from me, Naveen came to open an SB account which was never opened and he just scolded and ran away, Raju came to ask for a loan (for marriage) and I fired him and sent him out and Rekha came in to open a partnership account and had a tough time too. It was a great fun and a lot was learnt from such plays too

Later in the day, after lunch, we practiced Finacle till evening

Some unease peeps in again...

I got up too late today as I slept too late yesterday. Further, I skipped my breakfast to ensure that I am in right time to the class. Though I reached in time, I was uncomfortable. I managed to stay on cool. However, I had to face some sour things yet again due to this unease

As it keeps happening with me, I am misunderstood many a times by a lot of people as having a superiority complex or being egoistic. Though not true, I know that my body language has to be blamed for this. Though I am open minded and do not have any such complexities, sometimes, I am too deeply involved in some thoughts that totally zeroes my response to other things and thereby people come to such conclusions like I am having an ego, etc. I need to put a conscious effort to overcome this. And once a person points me out, I feel bad for that and I usually decide to keep quiet rather than trying to prove anything. Unfortunately, even this too appears as a signal of ego. I need to do something in relation to this. Though I have always tried to keep myself in a low profile, it does not happen and in some or the other way, I am highlighted. And then, the expectations of the people grow and its really tough to live up to all these expectations. But then, I can't run away either. So, I have to find a perfect solution to this particular problem. In fact, its not a problem. I can say, its an impression that gets created in the mind of the other person due to what I do. I just need to ensure that such misunderstandings dont happen

Today, we have been given a new task of covering up a topic in tomorrow's class. I shall be covering up the topic alongwith my team that includes Raju, Vibha and Ruchi

The reviewing activity for the day was done by Gopinath and it was very good show put up by him. He was confident, continuous and had a good flow of thoughts

Heavy movement across the city...

Yet again, I moved from Byrasandra to Jayanagar to Richmond Circle to Brigade Road to Mayo Hall to Trinity Circle to K R Market to Seshadripuram to Basaweshwar Nagar to Majestic to ITPL to STPL to K R Puram to Corporation to Jayanagar to Byrasandra to Jayanagar and back to my room in Byrasandra by 12.30 am

I had to submit mutual fund applications and then meet in relation to LIC and then some RMP meeting too

A lot of effort, as usual, as always, is going on

However, the result is yet to come in all these fields

MT 2 is no more...

We have just finished the MT 2 forever. It was good and as a class, the teachers were glad to see a 100% pass. Everyone cleared the test with good marks. I was among the best performers. The test was on OOB, AML & LIEB. It was a 40 minute test comprising 25 questions

The classes continued then

And after lunch, we had gone for a special meet. Naveen, Raghavendra, Maruti, Sivakumar and Raju accompanied me. And after the meet, we went back home

These days, a sort of problem has arisen at my PG. The geyser at my room is not working and I am supposed to use the geyser at the other room. And the person in the other room keeps it locked. I have told him a couple of times about the issue and yet, he doesn't understand. Today, I faced the same problem and due to time constraint, I had to adjust with cold water. It had rained the previous night. And some drizzling too was on. And in such a condition, using ice cold water on the body made me remember the Indian Army. I somehow managed to get in at right time in to IFBI to attend the test scheduled at 8 am

A new plan of doing something new is going on in my mind. And I have passed on the plan to my friends too. They all have liked it. And soon, we might start exploring the opportunity

Week after week... A new week begins...

6 weeks up and the 7th has begun. Its indeed a big time spent over here in the portals of IFBI, Bengaluru. I can say that we are through almost 50% of the training programme. But then, there is yet a lot to come and a lot to learn. Learning is a never ending process. Every moment of life teaches you something, irrespective of whether you want to learn or not

There was a long weekend gap. Not to forget, we had been to the Lalbagh on Thursday. Me, Naveen Koganti, Maruti, Raghavendra, Raju and Gopinath. I was too tired and upon that, we had been issued a new set of books today which were being carried by us in our bags. That made it too heavy and made the trip a little uncomfortable. It was raining too and that added some more problems. There was a good Flower Show going on in that place. It was arranged in a beautiful manner. Raghu was taking continuous photographs. I was just thinking what has made him so excited that he is taking so many photographs. Even Gopinath joined him in the process followed by Naveen and Raju. Hmmm... I think they were showing off their mobiles to each other and also to me and Maruti who did not have a camera cell :-) Kidding

We had plans of meeting on Saturday at BTM Water Tank for some reasons. However, only Maruti turned up for that. The camera mobiles were off ;P

Today, we had a class on customer service and Finacle. We were taught about Transaction Maintenance (TM) today. It includes cash transfers, normal receipts, normal payments, etc. And then, we had a revision for the MT-2 scheduled tomorrow at 8 am

Post lunch, I came back with an intention of studying the LMS portion for the test tomorrow. However, that did not get possible. I was able to cover just 2 chapters and another 6 remain unread. I need to cover them using the RB-I book or by coming early in the morning for the same

Independence Day... Rakshabandhan...

Usually, everyone out of station comes home when they have holidays. Well, there are 3 continous holidays for Independence Day, Rakshabandhan and Sunday. A lot of people are back to their hometowns. But then, I stayed back as I am free to go back anytime I wish

I was not able to make any contacts these days. On ID, I got up at about 11 am and kept watching the TV all day. There were some good films going on like Jodha Akbar, Golmaal, Hulchul, Goal, Garv, Main Hoon Na, etc. I was in front of the TV till 12.30 in the night. After all, it was after a huge gap of years that I was watching the TV. Usually, I get on to the PC and the TV never comes into picuture. But, it was different on the ID

The cellular operators take off the free SMS facility on all such days. Thus, it creates a lot of communication problem

Today is Rakshabandhan. And after a good gap, I was receivng the rakhis by post. Earlier, when I was in SSBJ, it was the same case. And then, when I was in Hubli for my BCom, I was with my family. And now, again. After a bath, I went on to the temple and tied the rakhis

Well, its going to be another boring day today and tomorrow too

A lunch with the Centre Head...

Today is the last day of the weekend as tomorrow is a holiday on the occassion of Independence Day. We had the classes as usual today. Additionally, we had an activity in relation to opening of accounts in a bank. A student acted as a bank manager (Ajeya) and a couple (Naveen & Nikita) come to open a joint account at the bank. The couple is being introduced by an existing account holder (Gopinath). There was some good discussion about how the account is operated, whether a minor (a 5 year old daughter) can be made a nominee. And if so, who should act as the guardian and so on. It was a nice role play

Further, today's review was presented by Richa Jha. It was quite good in terms of presentation. However, the need for more seriousness and proper explanation of concepts was stressed

We were given National Flag batches to celebrate the spirit of Independence. And to express our feeling of being an Indian, I was called up to put that instinct and passion in all by proudly expressing- "Mera Bharat Mahaan...!!!". That was good and I had passed the spirit of Independence across convincingly

And another special point about the day was a lunch hosted by Ms Sindhu, the officiating Center Head. It was a casual lunch attended by 6 of us. We had a small chat about making IFBI a brand with stronger appeal and enable penetration across the city. I could not believe that I was speaking to someone holding a management degree from the prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad. It was a great time

We will be moving on for a long weekend which includes Independence Day as well as Rakshabandhan

Signing off for the day

Test postponed... Sadly...

The 2nd MT supposed to be conducted tomorrow has been postponed. We had the usual classes today. Additionally, we had an activity conducted in relation to clearing of cheques. It was great. There was a lot to learn. We all acted as bankers and did the work of collection of cheques, presenting them at the clearing house, carrying the cheques drawn on us to the bank, deciding on the payment or returning of the cheques, preparing various memos, schedules, etc and handing back the cheques supposed to be returned to the bank

Today, I got up too late and for the first time, I missed the class. I missed the 1st class. Its a little disappointing. Though its the first time, I need to ensure that this never repeats

We all went to the Nellore Andhra Mess for food today. It was full of rice, rice, rice and some more rice

I have been listening to some good quotes from our faculty members. I wish to make a mention of them today

  • Stay committed in your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach
  • Happiness, like unhappiness, is a proactive choice
  • Ignorance is not an excuse, in law
  • Faith reaches where reasons fail
  • Systems and Procedures are the God for a banker
  • Believe in God, but lock the scooter
And the age old goldies which are evergreen

  • Truth, truth and only truth lives
  • Honesty is the best policy
  • Your attitude determines your altitude
  • Practice makes a man perfect
With these good notes, we need to ensure the implementation of these into our life. Each day I am a little worried about a mistake that I am doing. I don't know how much this mistake will cost me. Lying is wrong. But, lying for good, in cases, though wrong, might not be wrong

Round and round... Around the city...

A lot of travel is happening each day. I had to submit some mutual fund applications and it was a real tough job. In Hubli, getting the clients was difficult and here, getting the mutual fund houses to submit the forms is getting difficult

I moved from Jayanagar to Corporation in a bus. And from there, I took another bus to Mayo Hall. I walked till Brigade Road. Then, I found that the Sundaram BNP Paribas AMC is on the other end of the road. I walked all the way there for about 2 kms and submitted the forms. I walked on to Mueseum Road and from there, I took a bus to M G Road. And then, to Trinity Circle to reach ICICI Prudential AMC. Then, I walked along for a km to reach Manipal Centre. I thought that the CAMS Service Centre is there. However, I could not find it. Luckily, I got a call from my friend, Siddu, who found out the exact address from the internet. I submitted some more forms there. There was a problem in submitting the SBIMF form as the cheque was outstation. Luckily, there was someone from the AMC itself who took the responsibility of doing the remaining work

The MF work was almost over. I had to submit the Birla Sunlife MF empanelment form and an application too. I had to do this by courier as it has to be sent to Hubli

I had to go to Basaweshwar Nagar then. For this, I had a great problem in getting a bus. I kept roaming to find the right stop. Finally, I decided to go back to Shivaji Nagar to take a bus from there. It started raining instantly and I had to wait. Later, I went on to Shivaji Nagar and from there, I took a bus to Basaweshwar Nagar. Unfortunately, I could not get my work done there as I reached late. I had to walk a lot again to catch a bus and reach Shivaji Nagar. And from there, I got back to Jayanagar by 9 pm

The mistake I did was I was totally unplanned. I went on too randomly and it was really tiresome. I hardly get 2% commission on a MF investment. And all these investment were of Rs 500. 2% of Rs 3000 is Rs 60. However, I spent over 5 hours today and also a lot of time earlier in convincing the clients. So, thats a little sad seeing the earning aspect. But then, I am happy that I am able to do this for them

And then, I got a call from my friend to meet at Koramangala. I agreed and had a quick shower. As I had to leave early in the morning, I also had a shave then itself and went on to the 4th Block busstop. The bus stop is over 1 km away from my room. So, each time I go out, I need to walk for at least a kilometre. It was raining continously. Moreover, it was alrady 10.30 pm and the buses were scarce. Finally, we decided to postpone the meet and I came back to my room

I noticed that I had not had my food. So, I rushed to a restaurant. Another great incident happened there. I ordered for a chappatti and a parota. The rates were Rs 6 each. And then, I asked if I could get some sabji with that. The waiter gave me green peas. It was very good and I liked it. Only on paying the bill, I got to know that the green peas sabji costs Rs 20. So sad. Had I not gone for dinner, I would save Rs 32

Hmmm... Everythings a part and parcel of life. For every debit, there has to be a credit :-)

A new week begins...

The new week has begun and the 1st day has almost come to an end. This week is going to be only for 4 days as the 5th day is Independence Day which is a national holiday. Today was a very plain and simple day. All the classes for the day were taken by Nagesh Sir alone. We started a new chapter, namely Collection Services, and finished almost half of it. And then, we also learnt a little bit of inventory mangement (splitting, issue of chequebooks, etc.) in Finacle. The day came to an end by 1.30 pm and there was no post lunch session. There was no lab either as the labs were occupied for some examination purposes. So, everyone packed back home. However, I came back after lunch as I had some work (honestly, I had no work at home & so, wanted to use the free interest till evening). Further, there is also a need to read the LMS lessons which are included in the syllabus for our monthly test on the coming Thursday. 2 more days to go for that

Nothing much happening...

This week has been a very quite one with almost everything in a standstill. There has been no business progress. Most of the times, I kept waiting to meet people and people did not turn up. It happens

I was able to get some mutual fund leads this week. About 4 to 5 mutual fund subcriptions in the form of SIP have been sold by me. The processing remains to be done

On Sunday, we planned another Ajeets meet. A lot of my 1 year seniors joined us. Me, Mallu, Gurushant, Rajshekar Laddimath went on to forum to meet our SSBJ brothers Manu G V, Basavaraj Masur, Prashant Metri, Arif M B, Siddalingesh Zalaki and Praveen Chakramani. All have made a good progress in life and are well settled. Our Laddimath has joined B L Kashyap as a Construction Engineer recently. For those who know him, I would like to mention that he off totally on the head :-)

Mallikarjun Swami has got an admission for higher studies at Manchester as well as Nottingham University in the UK. He even has offer open at Jindal Steel. What to do? Where to go? Totally confused

Gurushant is the final year of Engineering and he is already placed in Cognizant Technology Services

G V Manu is working at Defence Research Development Organization, Praveeen Chakramani at TechMahindra, Basavaraj Masur at Mindtree, Siddu Zalaki at TCS, Prashant Metri is doing a PhD at IISc and Arif at Accenture

All Ajeets rocking on... And surprisingly, it was an All Adilshahi Day

We had some good time at The Forum Mall. And rejoiced our school moments. And then, our seniors gave us a treat at McDonalds for the success in their life

We were there till late evening and then each of waved hands to get back to the same old life
I, Praveen and Siddu went on to the Tycoons International Business Building Seminar under RMP Infotec. While Siddu and Praveen are already into it, I am yet to join. I feel like I must join and explore this opporunity. However, practically, things seem a little blurr. Further, when I join for a job, it will be almost impossible to concentrate on the same. Moreover, to get started, there is a need for Vitamin M, which is not available with me at the moment

I have decided to have a serious look at this sometime soon with all my friends. Lets see what comes out

08 08 08... Oh My Date...

Well, today is definitely a once in a lifetime date, ie, 8 8 8. Its rare to get such dates. For the next 4 years, we will get such dates. And after that, only the 2nd generation (grandchildren or their children) can see such dates. We will be seeing 9-9-9, 10-10-10, 11-11-11, 12-12-12 too, of course, if we live through till then

Today is the last day of the weekend and this week has been really tiring. Let me not elaborate more on this as this has now become a part of life

Today was the birthday of our batchmate, Richa. There was a surprise celebration planned by her friends. And most surprising of the plan was the presence of her husband without her knowledge. She was so happy and thankful to them. After the cake cutting, Raghu & team (Telugu Desam Party) had plans to take revenge on me as I had spat cake on his face on his birthday. I had a big time avoiding the people trying to play holi with the cake cream. But then, they over powered me and gifted a chocolate spot on my cozy white shirt. Only God knows if the stain will leave the shirt. Washing clothes is a real tough job that I need to undertake regularly

We have also been given books for the next monthly evaluation which will be in the form of a book review. The book given to our team is "Who Moved My Cheese?". The team composition have also been changed. In our team, we have Me, Naveen Koganti, Bayya Reddy, Richa Jha and Chitra. So, we have to get started for this new challenge now. The presentation is scheduled on 24 Sep 2008

Its exactly a month and a day that the course has begun. Its has been a nice experience till now. A lot has been learnt. A lot is working. A lot is going to come. We have built a good rapport between each other. There is another 66% of life on the other part of this course to be explored

WBT needs a larger attention now...

With the next test coming faster than anything, there is a need to cover the syllabus under WBT quicky. I was able to read a few pages under the Anti-Money Laundering Act today. There is a lot to be studied. Further, we also need to revise the OOB which was studied in the beginning

Today, the day began with a class on PCSS. And then, a couple of classes on Retail Banking. And after lunch, we had a class on Finacle followed by a lab session

Today's review was given by Maruti. He was appreciated for his sincereity. And he also gave a good show

No time to write the blog now...

With the speed of learning going up each and every moment, time available is on a continuous decrease. Further, the classes are running till the evening and the lab session runs till the sun sets. Thus, it is slowly pressuring and making things tougher. Unlike previous weeks, this week, I have been unable to find any time for my other activities

The review work has begun again with a higher level of seriousness now. Yesterday, it was presented by Jeena. It was a good show. And today, Kamaksha gave the review. He was a little nervous. However, he gave good information and did his best

Learning Finacle is becoming an adventurous act. We have now learnt to add a customer to create a Customer ID, opening an account, etc. It has great functions and is very extensive. In the lab sessions, we were asked to create customer IDs and accounts. It was a good learning process. Most of us have created our own dummy accounts and set balances of tens of thousands of crores in our accounts :)

As rightly said,
Information Technology is such a field where,
What is invented today,
Becomes outdated tomorrow
So, its time to meet rise with these demanding situations and keep performing

Today, we also had a nice activity in the class. The game is famously known as 'Chinese Whispers. A message was passed on to one person to be passed on to another 6 persons. And finally, it was totally distorted. The actual message passed was contained a sentence that mentioned the list of documents needed to buy a mutual fund. However, it got distorted to such an extent that, finally, these people were selling mutual funds to their counterparts. :-)

Finacle, Professional Communication, Retail Banking & Soft Skills... All in for the next match...

Finacle has begun today. Each day throws up new arenas to explore. And today, we have begun with the software that a major portion of the banking industry uses to maintain its operations, The Finacle. It was introduced with a small session to give a feel of the environment. And in a few days from now, we need to understand the software completely and be experts in the same. Sometimes, it takes a great deal to become a banker. You need to be perfect from each and every angle. Honesty and truthfulness are the two most important elements. Knowledge required is also of a superior level. The expectations are too big. Meeting all these demands need a lot of effort. Consistency is another thing that is very crucial. Efficiency is the prerequisite for survival. So, its not an easy task to be a banker, specially so, if you want to be a horse of the long term aiming to make it big in the same line of work like me. A banker leads a very systematic and methodical life under a lot of pressure and continuous threats. There are huge risks faced by him every moment and he is better known as a risk manager

Amidst all this, we have also begun another two major portions of the syllabus, Professional Communication & Soft Skills and Retail Banking-I. So, the amount of study, training, coaching, teaching, learning, activity, etc. happening is of a really large volume. One of our faculty says that the course is like doing an MBA with 15 years experience. If not 15 years, I definitely feel, its at least 3 years

I just thought of uploading the presentation given by our team the other day during ISAS. And here are the slides of the same
